AURORA is a third class municipality located in the province of Zamboanga del Sur. It is composed of 44 barangays, is 45-minute away from pagadian city airport and a one and a half hour away from Ozamiz airport and seaport.
The town was discovered in 1927 by sixteen Cebuano pioneers mostly from Mandaue city and Oslob,Cebu and was officially created until the 22nd of August, 1942,
under Executive Order No. 353. It got its name from the first lady
of the late President Manuel L. Quezon, Dona Aurora Aragon Quezon.
Today, most of the inhabitants are teachers, government employees, farmers and a few businessmen. It boasts itself of the success of AIMCOOP, a cooperative that offers financial services not just to the people in the town but also to those places where it has branches. Aurora also has Anonang Mountain Resort located in a area overlooking a beautiful scenery. The mountain resort has 2 swimming pools, one of which is overflowing.
